1. Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse was an iconic singer-songwriter who unfortunately struggled with drug addiction and passed away in 2011 due to alcohol poisoning at the age of 27. Amy’s influence continues to inspire modern-day upcoming artists, including one of our talented team members Samara Leilani. During her short time here on earth, Amy Winehouse was arrested in 2008 and charged with assault.
2. David Bowie Celebrity Mugshot
David Bowie had a very successful music career and always displayed his edge with his wardrobe and hairstyles. David Bowie’s mugshot has been hailed as one of the coolest Celebrity Mugshots of all time. Bowis was arrested in 1976 for a drug possession charge at a hotel.
3. Frank Sinatra
The picture of Frank Sinatra is one of the most viewed Celebrity Mugshots of all time. The picture itself resembles another modern-day famous crooner – Harry Connick Jr. In 1938, Sinatra was arrested for seduction .. yes you read that right. Apparently, New Jersey had a law against a man seducing a single woman into inappropriate behavior. The women ended up being married, so the charge was later changed to adultery. Think of how many people would be in jail today if adultery was still a crime!
4. James Brown
The disheveled picture of James Brown aka The Godfather of Soul pops up in popular celebrity mugshots on a regular basis. In 1998 Brown was arrested and later convicted o two counts of felony aggravated assault when he failed to stop for a police officer. During the chase, Brown was scared when he tried to flee and rammed his car into two police officers.
5. Janis Joplin
Janis Joplin was arrested over 50 years ago for the foul language she used during one of her public performances in Tampa, Florida at the age of 26. Tampa police decided to arrest her after she finished her set on stage because she used foul language toward the officers. Within a year of her arrest, Janis Joplin died of a drug overdose in a Hollywood hotel.
6. Jerry Garcia
Jerry Garcia was arrested in 1970 during a drug raid that ended with a seizure of an assortment of illegal drugs – LSD, marijuana, and barbiturates. The Grateful Dead vocalist/guitarist later referenced this arrest in the Dead song “Truckin.” Jerry Garcia was later interviewed about the arrest, which seemed suspicious since the cops were just waiting for him and his band mates after they performed at a concert.

In 1976, Jerry Lee Lewis was arrested for driving while intoxicated at the entrance of Elvis Presley’s Graceland, after unexpectedly showing up and demanding to see Elvis. In 1967 Jim Morrison was arrested and booked for inciting a riot at a concert after making derogatory remarks toward a police officer while on stage. Morrison apparently called the cop a “little blue man in a little blue hat.” In addition, Morrison dropped the f-bomb a couple of times on stage, so they also charged him with public obscenity.

Johnny Cash was arrested 7 separate times during his lifetime. One of those arrests happened in 1965 when he was arrested and booked into jail for drug smuggling heroin from Mexico. Turns out, the drugs Cash had in his possession were prescription drugs and not illegal.

At the age of 19, Bieber was arrested and booked for suspicion of drunk driving, drag racing, driving without a valid license, and resisting arrest in Miami, Florida. Despite his past legal troubles, he is currently thriving in his married life to Hailey!
11. Lauryn Hill
In 2012, Grammy award winner Lauryn Hill spent 3 months in federal prison for tax evasion charges. Hill failed to pay taxes on approximately $1.8 million dollars and pled guilty to this conduct in federal court. After spending 3 months in jail, she was ordered to spend an additional 3 months on house arrest. During her sentencing proceedings, Hill told the judge she intended to pay the taxes but was unable to do so during the time she temporarily left the music industry.
12. Lisa Lopes
Lisa Lopes aka ‘Left Eye” is an American singer/rapper who was a member of TLC in the 90’s. In 1994, Lopes was arrested for first degree arson after she torched her boyfriend’s home. Her boyfriend was Andre Rison -former NFL player for the Atlanta Falcons. Lopes was sentenced to 5 years of probation and ordered to attend therapy. Unfortunately, in 2002 Lopes died in a horrible car accident.
13. Mick Jagger
In 1967, the Rolling Stones very own Mick Jagger was arrested and faced drug charges. Jagger was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment for possessing four over-the-counter pep pills he had purchased in Italy. After a public outcry over the severity of the sentence, the charges were later dismissed.
14. Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj shared her celebrity mugshot on Instagram and opened up about her past. In 2003, prior to becoming famous, Minaj was arrested in New York for a weapons violation. Despite her past brush with the law, Minaj has the most dedicated fans, called the Barbz, who are dedicated to Minaj and always have her back.
Back in 1980, Prince and his keyboardist were arrested and accused of stealing a megaphone off of an airplane that was being stored in an overhead bin. Apparently, the megaphone was considered emergency equipment. Another female passenger sitting behind Prince and his keyboardist snitched them out, which led to their arrests.
